What are different modes I can install "Rainmail Intranet Server" in?

Depending on your organizational needs, "Rainmail Intranet Server" can be installed in one of two different modes. The first mode is where you enable email domains. The second mode is where you disable email domains. The main difference in these two modes is as follows:

  • When you enable email domain, your users will get an email address of the form user.emaildomain@domain.com
  • When you disable email domains, your users will get an email address of the form user@domain.com

You will have to make this decision before you deploy "Rainmail Intranet Server" in your organization. This is important because it is tough to switch to a different mode after deployment. The following will help you decide the mode in which to deploy "Rainmail Intranet Server".

  • You want to receive emails using a domain name from ICSoft (like "getcloser.net"): You must enable email domains.
  • You want to receive emails using your own domain name (like "icsoft-us.com"), you have branches in multiple locations, and you want to have transparent messaging between these locations: You must enable email domains.
  • You want to receive emails using your own domain name (like "icsoft-us.com"), you currently have one branch, but plan to open up additional branches in the future: We recommend that you enable email domains. This will enable you to have transparent messaging between locations you open up in the future.
  • You want to receive emails using your own domain name (like "icsoft-us.com"), you currently have one branch and do not see any possibility of installation another branch in future: You can disable email domains.
